Abstract

This research was conducted to determine the growth and yield of caisim plants for the treatment of the composition of the planting media and different population density with the floating cultivation system. The study was carried out in the village of Pelabuhan Dalam, Pemulutan District, Ogan Ilir Regency, South Sumatra from April 2019 to June 2019. This study used a Factorial Randomized Design (RAKF) consisting of two factors. The first factor is the composition of the planting media (M), namely M0 = soil (control), M1 = soil and reamun (3:1), M2 = soil and reamun (3:2). The second factor is population density (P) namely P1 = 1 plant/polybag, P2 = 2 plants/polybag, P3 = 3 plants/polybag, P4 = 4 plants/polybag. The results of the diversity analysis showed that the treatment composition of the planting medium significantly affected all variables except the total fresh weight and root dry weight in polybag. The treatment of population density significantly affected the number of leaves in plant, canopy dry weight in plant, total plant height in polybag, and total number of leaves in polybag. While the interaction of the two factors did not significantly affect all observed variables. The best growth and yield were obtained in the treatment of M2 media (soil and reamun composition 3:2) with plant height of 19,12 cm / plant and 47,82 cm / polybag, number of leaves 6,05 strands / plant and 14,2 strands / polybag , leaf area 307,01 cm¬2/ plant and 643,67 cm2 / polybag, root fresh weight 2,88 g / plant. Canopy fresh weight 15,66 g / plant and 32,49 g / polybag, and root dry weight 0,27 g / plant and 0,59 / polybag, canopy dry weight 1,58 g / plant and 3,21 g / polybag . The best results were obtained in the treatment of P4 (4 plants / polybag) with a height of 66,41 cm / polybag, number of leaves 19,94 strands / polybag, canopy dry weight of 2,41 g / plant.
