Abstract
This study was aimed to determine the effect of given vermicompost and compost to soil organic carbon, soil N, plant N and production of red curly lettuce (Lactuca sativa L. var. crispa) on floating agriculture system. This study was conducted at concrete pool, Department of Soil Science, Agriculture Faculty, Sriwijaya University, from September to December 2019. The design used in this study was factorial randomized block with 2 factors. The first factor in this study was vermicompost in 4 levels, namely V0 = no vermicompost, V1 = 250 gram polybag-1, V2 = 500 gram polybag-1 and V3 = 750 gram polybag-1. The second factor in this study was compost in 2 levels, namely K1 = 250 gram polybag-1 and K2 = 500 gram polybag-1. The results of this research showed that the combination of vermicompost and compost was very significantly affect on soil organic carbon and was significantly affect on soil N. The treatment of vermicompost was very sigificantly affect on soil organic carbon and soil N. The treatment of compost was very significantly affect on soil N and total dry weight, and was significantly affect on plant N, shoot wet weight, shoot dry weight and total wet weight. The best combination of vermicompost and compost treatment was obtained at V1K1 treatment (250 gram polybag-1 vermicompost + 250 gram polybag-1 compost). The best treatment of vermicompost was obtained at V1 treatment (250 gram polybag-1) and the best treatment of compost was obtained at K1 treatment (250 gram polybag-1).
