Abstract

ABSTRACT The cultivation of catfish in swamps was constrained by low pH. Swamp waters generally contain a pH below 5. The strategy that able be applied to neutralize acidity in soil and water media are liming. The doses needed depends on the soil's organic carbon content. This study aims to determine the dose of golden apple snail shells in increasing the pH of swamp water with a soil C-organic content of 19.72%, as well as the effect on survival and growth of catfish. This study uses a completely randomized design (CRD) with 3 treatments and 3 replications. Golden apple snail shell with a dose of P1 8,000; P2 10,000; P3 12,000 kg.ha-1 equivalent to CaO. The results of this study showed that P3 was the best treatment that can increase soil pH from 2.30 to 6.93 and water pH from 2.70 to 6.98 and 100% fish survival, absolute growth of weight 10.82 g, absolute growth of length 5.8 cm, and feed efficiency 98.03%. ABSTRAK Budidaya ikan patin pada lahan rawa terkendala pH yang rendah. Perairan rawa umumnya mengandung pH di bawah 5. Strategi yang dapat diterapkan untuk menetralkan keasaman pada media tanah dan air adalah dengan pengapuran. Dosis kapur yang dibutuhkan tergantung pada kandungan karbon organik tanah. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui dosis kapur cangkang keong mas untuk meningkatkan pH air rawa dengan kandungan C-organik tanah 19,72%, serta pengaruhnya terhadap kelangsungan hidup dan pertumbuhan benih ikan patin. Penelitian ini menggunakan Rancangan Acak Lengkap (RAL) dengan 3 perlakuan dan 3 ulangan. Perlakuan yang diberikan yaitu perbedaan dosis kapur cangkang keong mas sebesar 8.000 kg.ha-1 setara CaO (P1), 10.000 kg.ha-1 setara CaO (P2), dan 12.000 kg.ha-1 setara CaO (P3). Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa P3 merupakan perlakuan terbaik yang mampu meningkatkan pH tanah dari 2,30 menjadi 6,93 dan pH air dari 2,70 menjadi 6,98 serta menghasilkan kelangsungan hidup ikan 100%, pertumbuhan bobot mutlak 10,82 g, pertumbuhan panjang mutlak 5,8 cm, dan efisiensi pakan 98,03%.
