Abstract
The objective of this research was to prove the influence of teacher communication on students’ learning motivation in economics at senior high school number 2 Palembang. The type of research was “Ex post facto”, a research conducted after an event occurred which aims to find the causes that allowed behavior changes of a symptom caused by an event. The experiment occured naturally in the past so the researcher could not control the influence of other variables on the dependent variable directly. The population of this study was 120 students from three social classes at senior high school number 2 Palembang in the odd semester, 2019/2020 academic year. Sampling method was Cluster Random Sampling that was conducted randomly, then social class XI 1 and social class XI 2 were selected. Techniques of collecting data were observation and questionnaire. Data analysis technique was obtained to measure students' learning motivation and observation data analysis technique was obtained by researcher at the time the learning activities took place. Hypothesis testing used was parametric statistics Pearson Product Moment correlation test, determinant coefficient and t test used Polled Variance formula. Then, tcount> ttable (37.5> 0.728) was obtained. It means that Ho was rejected and Ha was accepted. It can be concluded that there was a significant influence of teacher communication on students' learning motivation in economics at state senior high school number 2 Palembang.
