Abstract

Preeclampsia is one of the complications of pregnancy which is one of the highest causes of maternal mortality. Prevention that can be conducted for preeclampsia is by conducting regular antenatal examinations and increasing understanding of preeclampsia. Health education can be conducted by various methods, one of them is by using Focus Group Discussion (FGD). This study aimed to determine the effect of health education with the FGD method on the knowledge of pregnant women about preeclampsia. The research design used was quasy experiment with a pre-post-test with control group, 36 samples were selected on April-May 2020 by using purposive sampling technique. The result of research used t paired test with a significant level of α = 0.05 showed that p value was 0,000 which means there was influence of health education using FGD method on pregnant women’s knowledge of preeclampsia. Health education used the FGD method can be considered for providing health information specifically about preeclampsia to pregnant women which is expected to prevent the occurrence of preeclampsia and lead them to take appropriate steps earlier.
