Abstract

Maritime museum in Palembang, south Sumatra is a place for local and foreign people to find information about the life history of South Sumetera in particular and National Kebaharian in general. The background of the Museum is from the Long History of the kebaharian of South Sumatra, with the existing history, the container for the maritime heritage in Palembang, South Sumatra is indispensable. Aside from being a forum for preserving, by storing, protecting and exhibiting cultural objects from a maritime culture or civilization in Palembang, South Sumatra, Aside from being a forum for preserving, by storing, protecting and exhibiting cultural objects from a maritime culture or civilization in Palembang, South Sumatra, The museum also aims as a forum for people to travel, search for information, education, research and gathering places. The planning and design of the Maritime Museum in Palembang, South Sumatra conceptualizes the metaphor and conceptual concept, by taking shape from the characteristics of the land and adopting the concept of building design in the area around the museum, such as a Colonial, Tracitional building from Rumas Limas and Raft Houses, as well as from buildings Other historical things such as the Great Mosque of Palembang, Monpera, Mayor's Office (Water Torren), Warehouse Sekanak ex Jacobson van Den Berg, Benteng Kuto Besak were applied to the building design concept of the Maritime Museum in Palembang, South Sumatra.
