Abstract

Data from all over the world shows that Asia ranks first in the number of DHF sufferers each year. The use of insect traps using attractants or attractants is one of the most widely used insect removal techniques, both in population monitoring and pest control. For this reason, it is necessary to know the oviposition preferences of Aedes aegypti L. mosquitoes towards the tested artificial oviposition media, and whether the attractant media as oviposition preferences can be used as a medium for the viability of their eggs. The purpose of this study was to determine the oviposition preferences of Aedes aegypti L. mosquitoes and ensure the viability of eggs to become larvae on artificial oviposition media. The experimental design of this study used the Complete Random Design (RAL) with 5 treatments media and 5 repetitions. The working procedure in this study is first to determine the oviposition preferences of Aedes aegypti L. mosquitoes by looking at the number of eggs found in each medium then analyzing using ANAVA and duncan further tests. Second, knowing the number of eggs that hatch on artificial oviposition media. The results of this study note that laundry wastewater media has the highest preference in attracting mosquitoes to do oviposition with a percentage of 40.32%. While the tofu wastewater media found the number of eggs that hatched with a percentage of 55.91%. The conclusion of this study is that different media have different effects on the preferences of Aedes aegypti L. mosquitoes lay eggs. The oviposition preference (egg laying) of laundry wastewater media is preferred over other media. Whereas chicken manure water media is less preferred. Tofu wastewater media has the highest percentage of the number of eggs that hatch (numbers) while chicken manure water media has no eggs that hatch.
