Abstract

Stunting was the impact of long-term/chronic accumulation of nutritional problems during the pre and perinatal. National prevalence of stunting in infants is 29.6% and OKI district is 22.6%. This study aims to determine the risk factors associated with stunting in infants aged 12-35 months and calculated estimated economic losses. This research is a quantitative study with a cross sectional design. The sample in this study amounted to 77 infants. This research used simple random sampling. The method of data collection with interviews by questionnaires and analysis of GDP per capita of Ogan Komering Ilir District in 2017 used calculations from the Konig 1995 formula and Horton 1999. The results of this study found that the prevalence of stunting in infants was 51.9%. The factor of dietary diversity shows a significant relationship (p-value=0,0001) as well as being the most dominant factor with stunting. Factors of economic status, infants participation, and history of disease infection showed no significant relationship with stunting. The large potential economic loss caused by the stunting problem was Rp170 billion - Rp765 billion or 0.67% - 3.03% of the GDP. Based on the results of this research was the only significant factor was the dietary diversity and also as the most dominant associated with stunting in children aged 12-35 months in Pedamaran District. Theres potential significant economic losses is caused by stunting in Ogan Komering Ilir 2017. The recomendation of this study that priority programs that have been agreed upon nationally can be implemented and evaluated and collaborated with academics in the surrounding area.
