Abstract

This study aims to provide empirical evidence on the impact of sharia supervisory board characteristics and firm age on the financial performance of sharia bank in Indonesia during 2015-2018. The dependent variable in this study is financial performance as measured by Return on Assets (ROA). The independent variables in this study is the characteristics of the shariah supervisory board as measured by looking at the size, cross-membership, educational background, experience of the shariah supervisory board and firm age. Based on purposive sampling technique, the samples obtained were 12 banks or 48 samples that met the criteria. The method of data analysis that is used is panel data regression with Eviews for windows software version 9.0. The results showed that the size of the shariah supervisory board, cross membership of the shariah supervisory board, shariah supervisory educational background, shariah supervisory board experience and firm age overall influence on the financial performance that is proxied by the Return on Assets (ROA).
