Abstract

Enhancement of the quality of retinal images that have both noise and noise is the first step in image processing to help improve accuracy for image segmentation and extraction. In this pre-processing stage, two contrast methods are used namely contrast stretching and CLAHE. Increase contrast by stretching the existing value in the image at a certain intensity. Contrast stretching will stretch, increase, and decrease the contrast of the image. And median filter, min filter, and max filter as filters for image enhancement that will filter out noise or noise. With this increase in image quality, it can be seen which method is better in improving it. By using MSE, PSNR, and SSIM measurement parameters to see the image quality and whether or not accurate. Using the STARE dataset based on PSNR and SSIM values it can be seen that the max filter (60.06 dB) is better than the min filter (50.83 dB) and the median filter (57.30 dB) in noise removal. And from the average value of the SSIM, it can be seen that the median filter (0.90) is better than the min (0.87) and max filter (0.88) in noise removal. Thus the contrast stretching method and median filter are better in enhancing this image. The average value of contrast stretching PSNR and various filters has a value of 57.30 dB for the median, a value of 50.83 dB for the min filter, and a value of 60.06 dB for the max filter. The average value of SSIM with contrast stretching method and the median average value of 0.90. The value of 0.87 min filter and the max filter has a value of 0.88. While the PSNR results from CLAHE with a median filter of 32.22 dB and a min filter of 31.73 dB, then a max filter of 32.45 dB. And the average value of SSIM CLAHE is 0.82 with a median, 0.78 with a min filter, and 0.77 with a max filter. From the results of the PSNR and SSIM, it can be seen that contrast stretching is superior to CLAHE in enhancement.
