Abstract

Lemongrass (Cymbopogon nardus L.) grows well in province of South Sumatra because it has a tropical and wet climate and good rainfall. Maceration is one of the extraction methods that studied in dasar - dasar pemisahan analitik courses. Maceration method is used to extracting citronella. The yield obtained from ethanol evaporation is 14%. The aim of this research is to make nanoparticles extract of citronella and determine the particle size. Ionic gelation method used to make nanoparticles of citronella using chitosan 0.08% and sodium tripolyphosphate (NaTPP) 0.01%. The characterization nanoparticles of citronella extract did by observing the particle size and distribution using the Particle Size Analyzer (PSA) with the Dynamic Light Scattering method to produce nano-sized particles with an average of 304.5. nm.
