Abstract
The purpose of this research is to obtain a description of a land suitable for the development of soybean plants and to classify land into classes according to the capabilities possessed based on limiting factors. This research was carried out on Tidal Swamp land in Tanjung Lago District, Banyuasin Regency. Analysis of chemical properties and soil physics was carried out at the Laboratory of Chemistry, Biology and Soil Fertility, Land Department, Faculty of Agriculture, Sriwijaya University, Indralaya. The study began from October 2016 to July 2017. The method used in this study was a semi-detailed scale survey method with direct observation to the field using a 1: 100,000 scale map. The area of study is ± 2,490 ha, based on observations and measurements. Determination of sampling locations is done by purposive sampling method where 3 samples each type of land overflow is taken so that the sample size is 12 samples in four types of land overflow: overflow A: in North Purwosari Village, overflow type B: in Mulia Sari Village, overflow type C: in Banyu Urip Village, overflow type D: in Bangun Sari Utara Village. Soil samples were taken at 3 sample points in each overflow type at a depth of 0-30 cm for laboratory analysis. The characteristics of the soil analyzed in the laboratory were texture, nutrient retention (pH and CEC), and nutrient availability (N-total, P2O5, K2O) and pyrite. The results showed that the overflow type A shows the actual suitability class, Nrf-nw, meaning that it is not in accordance with the limiting factors for soil drainage, effective depth and nutrient retention (soil pH) and is not in accordance with nutrient limiting factors (P-available) and bulk rain and dry months. Whereas the sample points B, C, and D have the actual suitability of Nf-rw, meaning that they are not suitable to be limited by limiting nutrient retention factors (soil pH) and are less suitable to be limited by limiting factors for soil drainage, effective depth and rainfall and dry months . The suitability of potential for soybean plants in overflow type A becomes S3-rw, in overflow types B, C and D becomes S2-rw that is by overcoming the limiting factors of nutrient P, pH, and soil drainage.
