Abstract
Introduction: Indonesia is one of the developing ountries heaving the most diabetes mellitus patients aged 20 – 70 years old ranking the 7th of the world with the number of patients 8.3 million people. Diabetes mellitus is one of the non-infectious diseases (nid). It is stressor for the sufferer that can couse low, medium, or high anxiety levels. One way to overcome it is by heaving family support comprising instrumental, infomational and emotional support. Method: This study aimed to find out the correlation between family suport and anxiety level of diabetes mellitus type II patients. The research design used cross-sectional method. It was conducted from june to December 2017 at Puskesmas Campus Palembang with the number of sample of 62 diabetes mellitus type II patients aged 45 years and above and residing with family mambers. The data were colleted using a questionnaire about family support and questionnaire about the level of anxiety. The independent and dependent variables were the family support and anxiety level of diabetes mellitus type II patients respectively. Results: the research result showed that there was a significant correlation between the family support and anxiety level of diabetes mellitus type II patients (Pvalue =0,003) with the Correaltion Coefficent value (r = -0.377). the family suport was in the form of infomational, instrumental and emotional support.
