Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui hubungan antara kemampuan penalaran ilmiah (scientific reasoning) dan hasil belajar peserta didik pada materi klasifikasi makhluk hidup kelas X MIPA SMA Negeri 1 Rantau Panjang. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah korelasi dengan teknik sampling purposive. Pengambilan data dilakukan di kelas X MIPA dengan jumlah peserta didik 68 orang. Data penelitian diambil dengan instrumen tes berupa soal pilihan ganda yang terdiri dari 25 soal untuk mengukur kemampuan hasil belajar dan 12 soal pilihan ganda beralasan dari instrumen Lawson’s Classroom Test of Scientific Reasoning (LCTSR) untuk mengukur penalaran ilmiah (scientific reasoning). Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa rata-rata nilai tes akhir peserta didik pada kemampuan hasil belajar mengalami peningkatan dibandingkan dengan nilai tes awal, dengan rata-rata persentase tes awal 39,65 % berkategori sangat kurang sedangkan tes akhir mencapai 58,65 % berkategori cukup. Hasil tes scientific reasoning menunjukkan bahwa, tidak terjadi peningkatan level penalaran peserta didik setelah pembelajaran. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa mayoritas peserta didik berada pada level operasional konkret dengan rata-rata 83,82 %, 16,18 %, dan formal 0 %. Hasil uji korelasi antara kemampuan scientific reasoning dan hasil belajar peserta didik yaitu, 0,161 artinya memiliki korelasi sangat rendah.
