Abstract

GAVALA model has been applied to learning activities in the 2019 class of Palembang Biology education study program on basic chemistry topics on carbohydrates. The application of the GAVALA model (assignment,Evaluation,Elaboration) was conducted to determine the effect on student learning outcomes by using experimental reserch methods.in the instrument obtained 20 multiple choice questions declared vaid,and obtained df = (n-2), the value of df 0,381. Data collected throught interviews, documentation, and tests. The result showed that the GAVALA model affected student learning outcomes,indicated by the result of the pretest and postest averages between the control class and the experimental class. In the control class the pretest mean value was 43,7 and the posttest mean value was 63,5 while in the experimental class the pretest mean value was 46,8 and the postest mean value was 78,7. The researcheralso observe dthe astivi tyand average grade og experimental suoerior 61,1% and control class obtained ontional ascoreo 18,2%. Based on the result of the independent sample T-test obtained thitung = 5,352 > ttabel = 1,667 so it can be stated that the HO hypotesis is rejected and Ha is accepted, meaning there is an influence on the GAVALA learning model on learning outcomes on carbohydrate material in the Biology Education Study Program FKIP Universuty Of Sriwijaya.
