Abstract

Flacourtia rukamis one of the traditional medicinal plants used by the community, especially Musi Banyuasin, South Sumatra for the treatment of hypertension. Hypertension, one of which is associated with high cholesterol (hyperlipidemic). In this research, an in-vitro and in-vivo test of the antihyperlipidemic activity of the stem extract of F. rukam was conducted. In-vitro tests were carried out using the Lieberman Burchard color reaction by spectrometry and in-vivo tests using male and female white rats wistar strain, each divided into six groups namely normal, negative control, positive control and treatment groups dose 100, 200, and 400 mg / kgBW. The results showed that the active extract of antihyperlipidemia in-vitro with IC50 209.092 ppm. In-vivo test showed the highest antihyperlipidemia activity at a dose of 400 mg / kgBW with % decrease in total cholesterol levels in male and female rats 56.283% and 64.293%, triglyceride levels 57.3342% and 67.2294% and LDL 54.291% and 69.381% respectively, meanwhile there was an increase in HDL levels in male and female rats 58.765% and 49.198%. respectively. The simvastatin standard at a concentration of 1 mg / KgBW gave a decrease in total cholesterol of 67.382%, triglycerides 69.379% and LDL 72.875% and an increase in HDL9.134%. The extract gave an ED50 value of 328.09 mg / KgBW. Statistical analysis showed that the three treatment doses gave a significant difference compared to negative control (p>0.05), and significant with positive control (p<0.05). Based on this data it was concluded that ethanol extract was active antihyperlipidemia but its activity was weaker compared to the standard compound simvastatin.
