Abstract

Kebiul seeds contain of flavonoids, alkaloids, steroids, triterpenoids and saponins. Flavonoids are known that can be used as antipyretic, analgesic, and anti-inflammatory. This research in order to know the antipyretic effect and the best dose of extract of kebiul seeds in white wistar male rats induced by DPT-HB vaccines (Diphtheria Pertussis Tetanus – Hepatitis B). White wistar male rats were divided into eleven groups with negative control (Na CMC), positive control (Paracetamol) and nine treatment groups which divided equally into groups of extract of ethanol, ethyl acetate, and n-hexane with each of doses 100, 200, and 400 mg/kgBW. The rats were given 0,2 ml of DPT-HB vaccines to increase temperature of rat‟s rectal, and the extract given for the next 5 hours. Temperature of rat‟s rectal after induced can be stated as fever if ≥38°C. Observed parameter in decreasing temperature of rat‟s rectal were measured using digital thermometer every 30 minutes until the 3rd hour after induction was administered. The result showed ethanol extract and ethyl acetate extract kebiul seeds dosage 400 mg/kgWB there‟s no significant difference (p>0,05) compared to the positive control which indicated the antipyretic activity of ethanol extract and ethyl acetate extract equal to paracetamol of dose 500 g/kgBW. Ethanol extract of kebiul seeds of dose 400 mg/kgWB is the best dose of extract of kebiul seeds with varying solvent of polarity.
