Abstract

It has been conducted a research regarding formulation and characterization of ethanol fraction nanoparticle of mint leaves extract (Mentha suaveolens Ehrh) with variation of CaCl2 consentraction. The purpose of this research was to discover the effect of variation of CaCl2 consentraction toward the optimum formulation of nanoparticle. The mint leaves were extracted by maceration method using ethanol 96% as a solvent and then continued with phytochemical screening. The result of phytochemical screening showed that the mint leaves contain alkaloids compounds, steroids, flavonoids, saponins, and tannins. The extract obtained was fractionated using the liquid-liquid partition method. Prepartion of nanoparticle used chitosan, sodium alginate, and calcium chloride (CaCl2) with consentration of 20 μL, 40 μL, and 100 μL as croslinker performed by using ionic gelation method. The best formulation of nanoparticle is formula one (F1) that has persent-value of encapsulation efficiency 92,57%. The result of characterization of F1 nanoparticle by using particle size analyzer for diameter, PDI, and potensial zeta are 579,3 nm, 0,428, and +39,8 mV respectively. Telah dilakukan penelitian mengenai formulasi dan karakterisasi nanopartikel fraksi etanol ekstrak daun mint (Mentha suaveolens Ehrh) dengan variasi konsentrasi CaCl2. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh variasi konsentrasi CaCl2 terhadap formula optimum nanopartikel. Daun mint diekstraksi dengan metode maserasi menggunakan pelarut etanol 96% dan dilanjutkan dengan skrining fitokimia. Hasil skrining fitokimia menunjukkan bahwa daun mint memiliki senyawa alkaloid, steroid, flavonoid, saponin, dan tanin. Ekstrak yang didapat dilakukan fraksinasi menggunakan metode partisi cair-cair. Preparasi nanopartikel menggunakan polimer kitosan, natrium alginat, dan kalsium klorida (CaCl2) dengan konsentrasi 20 μL, 40 μL, dan 100 μL sebagai crosslinker menggunakan metode gelasi ionik. Formula terbaik nanopartikel yaitu formula 1 (F1) memiliki nilai persen efisiensi enkapsulasi sebesar 92,57%. Hasil karakterisasi nanopartikel yaitu untuk diameter, PDI, dan zeta potensial yang menggunakan alat particle size analyzer pada formula 1 adalah 579,3 nm, 0,428, dan +39,8 mV.
