Abstract

Digital fundus imaging in ophthalmology plays an important role in medical diagnosis. In medicine, the image of the retinal fundus is used to diagnose several diseases of the retina. The image of the retinal fundus is one of the medical images produced through fundus photography. However, the resulting retinal image often has a low contrast intensity which can reduce the quality of the image. In this study using the Contrast Limited Adaptive Histogram Equlaization (CLAHE) method and several filters using the STARE dataset to improve the quality of the retinal fundus image. First the retinal image will be increased contrast using CLAHE, then sharpening using the High Pass Filter. Furthermore, the image will be carried out a process of noise removal with several filters, namely Median Filter, Average Filter and Gaussian Filter. The results obtained from this method are low contrast enhancement in images and get better image quality than before. Of the several filters used, the MSE measurement value that has the lowest average value is the average filter with 3.67. While the PSNR measurement value which has the highest average value is the average filter with 49.28 dB.
