Abstract
Dye Sensitized Solar Cell is a solar technology that is able to convert solar energy into electrical energy with organic materials as light absorbers. DSSC performance could be affected by many factors, one of which is dye sensitizer. This research used dye of water hyacinth leaves extracted by the combination methods of Microwave and Ultrasonic Assisted Extraction (MAE and UAE). The temperature and power used in MAE were 40oC and 450 Watt for the extraction times of 30 seconds, 1 minute and 1,5 minutes. The temperature and frequency used in UAE were 35oC and 40 kHz for the extraction times of 45, 50 and 55 minutes. The research consisted of three stages namely: assembling the DSSC structure, applying dye and electrolyte solution, measuring and processing of DSSC data. The TCO glass used in this research had a resistance between 0,5 kΩ to 17,2 kΩ. DSSC was tested with variations in the extraction times of the UMAE combinations namely: 45, 50, 55 minutes for UAE and 30, 1, and 1,5 minutes for MAE. The parameters observed including chlorophyll content that was analyzed at the absorbance at the wavelength of 649 and 665 nm based on the formula of Wintermans and De Motz, current and voltage, power, Fill Factor, and DSSC efficiency. The highest value of electrical performance were found in the DSSC 3 namely Voc = 769 mV, Isc = 0,0275 mA, Imax = 0,0148 mA, Vmax =517 mV , Pmax =7,6516 mW, FF = 0,3618 and Efficiency = 4,69% with the highest chlorophyll content of = 3,82 mg/L.
