Abstract

Exhausted of vehicles that used lead fuel is one of the pollutant sources. Lead is a heavy metal which is very dangerous for the body. Jobs that had a high risk of exposure to lead from gasoline and dust in the air were gas station operators.This study aim to know the factors relating to lead content in the hair of gas station operators. This studyused cross sectional method with 32 gas station operators as the sample.Examination of lead level in hair used MP-AES and Adult Lead Poisonin Medical Provider Questionnairewas used to detemine factor related. The results showed that there were a relationship among work period (p value 0.000), smoking (p value 0.003), and milk consumption (p value 0.049) towards the lead level in the hair of gas station operators. There was no relationship among gender (p value0,310), age (p value 0.244), and wearing PPE (p value 0.556) towards lead level in the hair of gas station operators. Variabels of work period, smoking, and milk consumption are factors that related of lead contet in the hair of gas station operators 24.351.33 Kalibalok Bandar Lampung.The suggestions of this study were: the gas station operators neededto wear PPE at work, to reduce smoking habit, and to increase milk consumption habit.
