Abstract

Clustering or grouping is one of the techniques in data mining, which performs the process of grouping data based on the level of similarity. The greater the level of data similarity, it will be placed in the same cluster. There are many clustering techniques, one of which is Fuzzy C-Means. Fuzzy C-Means (FCM) is a clustering technique in which the existence of each data point in a cluster is determined by the degree of membership. FCM is a supervised clustering technique, where the number of clusters to be formed has been determined at the beginning of the clustering process. When established, it is necessary to validate the number of clusters, one of which is the validation technique for the number of clusters using the Xie Beni Index (XBI) method, which uses the distance between clusters and the amount of data to determine the XB index value. used, then the number of clusters is more optimal. This research raises a case study of item sales data with the item number attributes Fresh, milk, grocery, Frozen, Detergent paper, Delicassen. The results of this study are the formation of a system capable of clustering data on sales of goods using the FCM technique. , after that validate the number of clusters used un To find out the value of XB. After several clustering processes were carried out with different number of groups, then the xb value of each cluster was compared and the smallest Xb value and the optimal number of groups were sought.
