Abstract

The objectives of the study were: 1) to determine the development of domestic prices, import prices, and the sugar imports in Indonesia, 2) to calculate the per-kg marketing margin and the total marketing margin per year for sugar imports in Indonesia, and 3) to determine the effect of marketing margins, total production, and the lag variable of sugar imports to the amount of sugar imports in Indonesia. This research was located in Indonesia with the consideration that we want to know the development of domestic sugar prices, imported sugar prices and marketing margin of imported sugar in Indonesia. Analysis method used multiple ression model. This research used historical method with time series from 2000-2018. The results of the research showed that there are fluctuations in domestic sugar prices with an increase of 12% per year, imported sugar prices with an increase of 19% per year and the sugar imports with an increase of 24% in the year 2010 to 2018. The average marketing margin in 2010-2018 based on the 5 main exporting countries was IDR 23.211 per-kg, then the total marketing margin per year was IDR 18 Billion. There is a significant positive effect of marketing margins on the amount of sugar imports and no significant positive effect of the sugar production and the sugar imports lag- to the imports.
