Abstract

Rubber plant is one of the annual plants where the growth and development of rubber plants, even its productivity is greatly influenced by morphological, physical and chemical characteristics of the soil. This study aims to examine morphological characteristics, physical and chemical properties of soil such as color, texture, structure, soil moisture content, soil consistency, and pH and the production of rubber plants in kasai formations in smallholder plantations in Payaraman District. This research was conducted from January to December 2019. Soil samples were taken in Payaraman District, precisely in the people's plantations in Payaraman Village. In this research the method used is descriptive survey method which aims to describe the morphology of the soil based on the physical and chemical characteristics of the soil in the Kasai formations in the field, make observations directly to the field then collect existing data in the field, create soil profiles and then take soil samples. to be analyzed in the laboratory. Soil samples were taken totaling 4 points. The soil color in the study location shows a dark yellowish brown color at a depth of 0-30 cm, at a depth of 30-60 cm and 60-90 cm has a yellowish brown color. Soil texture at a depth of 0-30 cm is sandy loam and at a depth of 30-60 cm and 60-90 cm is sandy clay. Soil structure at a depth of 0-30 cm, namely crumbs, at a depth of 30-60 cm and 60-90 cm, namely sub angular blocky. The highest water content reaches 57% and the lowest is 22%. The highest density of contents is 1.84 g / cm3 and the lowest is 1.02 g / cm3. The lowest pH is 4.27 and the highest is 5.00. The highest rubber production reached 1,320 kg / ha / year with an average productivity of 1,152 kg / ha per year. Basically, the soil in the kasai formation in the research location has good physical and chemical properties for the growth and productivity of rubber plants.
