Abstract

Water is an important component that must be absorbed by the living body. However, over time, the quality of water sources has decreased, resulting in decreased quality. Scarcity and decline in the quality of clean water is accompanied by an increase in the needs of society and industry. Based on data from the Tirta Musi Regional Drinking Water Company (PDAM) in Palembang, in December 2019 the turbidity level was more than 1200 NTU. This is because solid particles are then suspended in the water from upstream and downstream of the river. Raw water treatment costs Rp 3,390 per one cubic meter of clean water. To reduce raw water treatment costs, it is necessary to develop methods that replace the use of chemicals, including using strong electromagnetic fields in the raw water treatment process. A study by treating raw water by comparing two water samples to determine the decrease in turbidity removal efficiency. The results of the study were an increase in the efficiency of removing turbidity from 60% to 99.48% using a magnetic flux density of 0.7 T. Therefore, in this study the processing of raw water obtained from the Ogan River using a magnetic field was then observed based on turbidity and the color. The variations used are variations in the pH of raw water 2, 3, 4, and 5.While the processing process is carried out variations in the magnetic field strength of 15 V, 25 V, 35 V, and 45 V. carried out every 30 minutes 4 times then carried out the analysis test. . In observing the turbidity value, the best results were obtained at 1.40 NTU, namely the raw water treatment with a pH of 5 and magnetic field strength of 45 V. Whereas in the observation of color values, the best results were obtained at 3 TCU with a pH of 3 and magnetic field strength 45 V with the best processing time is 120 minutes.
