Abstract

The KP-ASI program specifically formed to support mothers who wish to success in carry out breastfeeding. Tujuh Ulu Health center is one of the health centers in Palembang city which has a KP-ASI programme. Based on data in 2019 Tujuh Ulu Health Center was the second health center with lowest breastfeeding coverage in Palembang City at 73%. The purpose of this study is to find out the effectiveness of breastfeeding support group in Tujuh Ulu Health Center, the study was conducted in March 2020. This study used qualitative approach with in-depth interview, observation and document review. There were 9 informants consist from health center leader, staff in charge of nutrition, staff in charge of health promotion, midwife coordinator, and KP-ASI mothers. Data was analysed using content analysis. The result showed that from adaptation component, the implementation of KP-ASI program in 2017 was because the low coverage of exclusive breastfeeding, the procurement and filling of employee was not performed according to the guidelenes, the benefit of KP-ASI is to disseminating infromations about exclusive breastfeeding. Integration component, socialization has been carried out, coordination and commitment have been carried out to across sectors. Motivation component, the motivation of program holders was good, there were reward and punishment, training has not been given, facilities were sufficient, the KP-ASI program funds were from health operational assistance. Production component, the achievement of program was the increase of exclusive breastfeeding coverage, the intensity of the program was not performed according to the guidelines, the suitability of theories were performed according to the guidelines, supervision and control is carried out by the health center through monthly reports and questions given by the health center leader and to the health department report is given through exclusive breastfeeding coverage every year. It can be concluded that based on four criterias which are adaptation, integration, motivation, and production, KP-ASI can be said not effective. Recommendation for Tujuh Ulu Health Center for its implementation of KP-ASI is to using the guidelenes from Republic of Indonesia Ministry of Health and holds training for KP-ASI employees.
