Abstract

Produced water (water production) is one of the wastes produced by the petroleum industry from exploration and production of oil & gas. Produced water contains organic and inorganic compounds which are a really B3 waste (hazardous and toxic materials). This research was conducted to treat produced air using the electrocoagulant method. The aim of which is to see produced water (water produced), examines the effect of the electrocoagulant process in the prduced water process. Produced water shows levels of COD, TDS, oil & grease exceed the quality book, according to the Minister of Environment and Forestry Regulation No. 19/2010 Exploration and Production Activities of Oil and Gas from Onshore Facilities. The winding procedure is that air is produced in the electrocoagulant reactor, which is equipped with aluminum electrodes with a cross-sectional area of 38. 4 mm2, which conducts 3 volts of electricity at a current of 35 A for 15 minutes. Stops power for 10 minutes, waits for floc and a precipitate to form. Then take a 300 ml water sample and analyze the results of pH, COD, oil & fat, high Buble and TDS. Repeat the same steps for 30, 45, 60, 75 and 90 minutes with a voltage of 6, 7.5, 9 and 12 volts. From the results of the experiment using the electrocoagulant method with several variables such as voltage, electrode cross-section and time, the results were obtained, using the electrode cross-sectional area A 38.4 mm2, COD reduction was 88.07% (average 88 ppm), TDS of 31.29% (11001 ppm average), oil & fats 96.98% (average 11 ppm). While the cross-sectional area of the electrode B 78 mm2 was obtained by a decrease in COD of 92.95% (52 ppm average). TDS of 36.25% (average 10206 ppm), oil & grease of 98.56% (average 5, 24 ppm). From research with the electrocoagulant method, this method can be used as pre-treatment for produced water (production water) before further processing.
