Abstract

This study examines “The Survival Patterns of Fishermen Communities in Lebung Village, Rantau Bayur District, Banyuasin Regency”. The purpose of this study is how fishermen survive and what are the inhibiting factors in fulfilling the needs of life. This study uses descriptive qualititave research methods by collecting data obtained from observations, in-depth interviews with fishermen to obtain data. This research was conducted on fishermen have a minimal income, they have a way of survival. Researcher use the theory of survival from James C. Scott to analyze the survival patterns of fishermen. The results shown in this study are that fishermen do five ways of survival, which are saving activities, doing additional work, having social networks, children participating in working and their wives working. This reflects that fishermen have a way of survival in order to able to meet their daily needs.
