Abstract

Internet of Things (IoT) is no stranger to being applied on devices we used in daily life. By implementing IoT, we can be helped and simplified in doing things that we can do continuously. One of the problems we met in daily life is the problem of environmental cleanliness. So, the Internet of Things (IoT) is used in the trash so that it can provide information that the trash box has reached its maximum volume in the form of notifications sent via Email, Smartphone and also an LED light indicator that functions to show the height of the contents of the smart trash box so that the owner can find out that it is time to clean up the trash box and move it to the final waste collection place so that waste does not accumulate and decompose for a long time. To detect the height of the volume of the smart litter box, the ESP32 is used as a microcontroller and the HC-SR04 ultrasonic sensor to measure the height of the waste volume. In addition, the HTTP and MQTT protocols are also used which are compared based on Quality of Service (QoS) parameters. The parameters that are taken into account are the value of Delay HTTP Delay which is 0.26 s while MQTT is 0.24 s, Packet Loss for each protocol is 0% and Throughput is 5564,804 bytes / s for HTTP protocol and 23803.34 byte / s for protocol MQTT of each refill filling that reaches the maximum volume.
