Abstract
The high rate of population growth in South Sumatera causes the population to increase rapidly. Growth in each region over time is difficult to control, especially population growth in big cities, difficulty in finding employment in villages or low income levels and high growth to improve a better quality of life is one of the reasons the community influences the progress and prosperity of the area . There are several methods that can be used to estimate the population, the method used to estimate the population is the Classic Logistics Method and the Modified Logistics Method. In this study a comparison of results between the Classical Logistic Method and the Modified Logistic Method is used in estimating the population. Based on the results and discussion of the estimated population of South Sumatra in 2030 using the classical logistical method amounted to 13,421,600, while the estimated population in 2030 with the Modified Logistics Method amounted to 13,255,800. Furthermore, the Logistic Method obtained the standard deviation value of 1,239,121,948 while the Modified Logistic Method obtained the value of bakuny deviation which is 1189,783,557 so that it was concluded that the Modified Logistic Method was the best method because it had the smallest tub deviation.
