Abstract

This aim of the study is determining whether there is a role of self disclosure toward stress. This study hypothesizes that there is a role of self disclosure toward stress in first-year student at X University. This study used 408 respondents with details of 162 students from Faculty of Medicine and 246 students from Faculty of Engineering undergraduate programme. This sampling technique was quota sampling. The measuring instrument that used is self disclosure scale which refers to self disclosure by Cozby (1993) and stress scale that refers to stress aspect by Sarafino and Smith (2011). Data analysis ised simple regression. The result of simple regression show R square= 0,025, F= 10,381 and p= 0,001 (p<0,05). This means that self disclosure has a role toward stress. Thus, the hypothesis could be accepted and self disclosure contribution toward stress is 2,5%
