Abstract

With the increasing utilization of health service facilities by the community, demands for the management of the Hospital Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) program must be applied. This Radiology Installation utilizes X-rays for diagnosis purposes both diagnostic and interventional radiology. These activities in addition to providing benefits can also cause potential hazards. The purpose of this study was to analyze the implementation of the implementation of X-ray radiation safety management in Radiology Installation Palembang Hospital. This research is a descriptive study with a qualitative approach. The research method was carried out by in-depth interviews with 2 key informants and 3 informants, observation, and document review. The results showed the licencing requirements met the conditions and had x-ray use permits. In the management requirements, points were not fulfilled namely health checks of workers who will stop working, records of fact-finding results of radiation accidents, records of replacing X-ray aircraft components, and records of emergency exposure reports. The protection requirements, points were not fulfilled namely the principle of optimization is carried out by providing minimal radiation exposure and avoiding repeated radiation exposure, there is no dose limit or medical exposure level guideline in its implementation.. The technical requirements, points were fulfilled but not based on the reference standard is the cathlab room wall is not yet suitable and does not have a dark room.. While the safety verification requirements points are not met, namely the identification of potential exposures has never been done. It can be concluded that the implementation of X-ray radiation safety management is sufficient to meet the requirements and according to the reference standards only a few are unsuitable and have not been met. Suggestions for hospitals to make efforts to repair improper facilities, and increase worker compliance with radiation safety protection devices by imposing sanctions on violators
