Abstract

According to the Indonesian Association of Skin and Gender Specialist (Perdoski), about 90% of occupational disease are both irritant and allergic contact dermatitis. The purpose of this study was to determine the factors that influence irritant contact dermatitis in tofu factory workers in Enggal Jaya, Kalidoni District, Palembang. This study uses a cross sectional study design, with a total sample of 64 respondents. The analysis conducted in this study is univariate, bivariate, and multivariate.From the result of the univariate analysis, it was found that (42,2%) people experienced symptoms of irritant contact dermatitis. The result of bivariate analysis showed a relationship between years of service (p=0,004) with sympoms of temporary irritant contact dermatitis on the age variabele (p=0,0992), history of skin disease (p=0,210), personal hygiene (p=0,170), and personal protective equipment (p=0,978) did not show a realtionship. The results of multivariate analysis showed that the variable of tenure was dominant variable while the other variables were confounding variables. Conclusion : It can concluded that the length of service variable is a variable that is at risk of causing irritant contact dermatitis symptoms in the factory workers in Enggal Jaya, Kalidoni District, Palembang.
