Abstract

Study to get resistivity, conductivity, and leakage current of glass insulator which are subjected with cement pollutant contaminant and get treatment in dry, moist, and wet condition. The test carried out to the glass samples with 120mm x 50 mm x 2 mm dimension. Samples divided into two type, clean sample and contaminant sample, which are in condition dry, moist and wet. This research is based on IEC 587:1984 standard with 450 degree angle and copper tape as the electrode.The test result show that cement pollutant as contaminant affects the value of the leakage current, value of surface resistance, value of resistivity, and value of conductivity. The more contaminant in a glass sample, the more it affect the leakage current value, in a condition where contaminant contain water, leakage current has more value but less surface resistance. It occurs when water that mixed with cement makes the elements in cement it self turn into ion and can move easily and make the sample surface easier to conduct the current or to reduce surface resistance value. In summary surface resistance value compared straight to resistivity value and inversely with leakage current value and conductivity value.
