Abstract

Anemia in pregnant women is the largest and most difficult micronutrient problem resolved around the world. One of three pregnant women in Indonesia is anemic. The prevalence of anemia in pregnant women in Indonesia is 37.1%. The purpose of this study is to analyze the factors that affect the incidence of anemia in pregnant women in Indonesia. This study uses secondary data of Indonesian Family Life Survey (IFLS) in 2014. This research uses cross sectional design. Sampling method using multistage random sampling. Bivariate data analysis using chi square test and multivariate analysis using multiple logistic regression with complex sample. The prevalence of anemia in this study is 43.6%. The results showed that there were correlation between residence area(p-value=0,005), age(pvalue= 0,001), frequency of egg consumption(p-value=0,000), frequency of meat consumption(p-value=0,000), parity(p-value=0,01), gestational age (pvalue= 0,000), and education level (p-value=0,028) with anemia in pregnant women in Indonesia. The results showed that there were no correlation between employment status, consumption fe, number of visits Antenatal care, distance of pregnancy, family economic status, number of family members, and frequency of fruits consumption. The most influencing factor was gestational age with risk of 1.771 (95% CI = 1,463-2,143) after being controlled by residence area, age, frequency of egg consumption, frequency of meat consumption, parity, gestational age, and education level. Pregnant women should have an antenatal care visit, especially at the second trimester of pregnancy.
