Abstract
When it rains or when it rains, a natural phenomenon occurs in the form of flashes of light and accompanied by a thundering sound called lightning. Lightning strikes are very dangerous for objects or objects that they strike. Fasilkom Dean Building, Sriwijaya University, Palembang campus, which has just built the sixth floor of the building. In the building of the Fasilkom Dean of Sriwijaya University, Palembang campus, there are many computers and people who are active in it, which if the Fasilkom building is struck by lightning it is very detrimental. To find out whether the Dean of Fasilkom building is a building where a lightning protection system must be installed, calculations are carried out based on IEC 62305-2 and design an external protection system using the sketch up application with the rolling ball method.
