Abstract

Archidendron jiringa is one of the plant that has the potential as an antihyperlipidemia. Jengkol fruit peel contains phenolic, flavonoid, tannin and saponin chemical compounds that can act as antihyperlipidemia. The purpose of this research is to look at the antihyperlipidemic effect of ethanol extract of jengkol fruit peel to decrease levels of total cholesterol, LDL (Low density lipoprotein) and triglycerides. Wistar male rats were divided into five groups namely positive control (simvastatin 0.193 mg /KgBW), negative control (NaCMC 0.5%), and three treatment groups of ethanol extract of jengkol rind at a dose of 250 mg / KgBW, 750 mg /KgBW, and 1000 mg /KgBW. Rats were given an induction of a high-fat supplement and propylthiouracil for 14 days to indicate an increase in cholesterol, then the extract was given 14 days later. Total cholesterol level after induction can be declared experiencing hyperlipidemia if> 54 mg / dL, LDL level> 27 mg / dL and triglyceride level>145 mg / dL. The results showed that the ethanol extract of jengkol rind at a dose of 1000 mg /KgBW could significantly reduce total cholesterol, LDL and triglyceride levels in the amount of 22.14 ± 9.43mg / dL, 26.83 ± 1.72 mg / dL and 174.25 ± 4.31 mg / dL. This shows that the ethanol extract of Jengkol fruit peel has activity as antihyperlipidemia and there is a significant difference compared to the negative control group (p <0.05). Based on the relationship of the percentage decrease in total cholesterol levels to the dose, the ED50 of ethanol extract of jengkol fruit peel are 926 mg /KgBW, decrease in LDL levels by 797.5 mg /KgBW and for a decrease in triglyceride levels by 826.66 mg /KgBW.
