Abstract
Technology developments have resulted in increasingly varied innovations in concrete manufacturing, one of them is the innovation development to produce lightweight density concrete that can withstand optimal pressure strength (Lightweight concrete). Lightweight concrete is concrete that has a lower specific density compared to other common conventional concrete which is 1,900 kg / m3. The use of this type of concrete can make the total construction load of a building smaller than using conventional concrete. This can be a solution for development in areas prone to earthquakes. Generally lightweight concrete is made by making an air cavity into a concrete mixture commonly called foamed concrete. Cavity quality in foamed concrete is determined by the quality of foam produced through foam generator and the quality of the foam produced is determined by the percentage of foam agent usage. This research was conducted to test and analyze the optimum composition of foam agent in producing the best compressive strength by considering its ratio to specific gravity and porosity. This research was carried out by making a 5 cm cuboid specimen using a percentage variation of foam agent 10%, 15% and 20% and testing the compressive strength, specific density and porosity at the concrete ages 3, 7, 14, 21 and 28 days . The study used a guide to the composition of the mixture of foamed concrete ACI 523.3R-93 with reference to the plastic mortar density of 1760 Kg / m3 and compressive strength of 17.94 MPa. The optimum composition of foamed concrete compressive strength in this study is foamed concrete which uses 20% foam agent which is 13,797 MPa with specific density of 1139,309 Kg / m3 and porosity of 16,194%.
