Abstract

Horticultural crops are the crops that can contribute significantly to the food needs. One of the horticultural crops that fulfill the food needs is potato. Potato plants need a lot of nutrients to increase their growth and production. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of combination chicken manure with compound fertilizer on soil reaction (pH) and nitrogen content, on the potato growth also to find out the best combination between chicken manure and compound fertilizer on potato production. The method used in this study was a Factorial Randomized Block Design (FRBD) with 2 treatment factors, i.e. chicken manure and compound fertilizer. The result of this study indicated that the application of chicken manure had no significant effect on N-total, while application compound fertilizer had a significant effect on N-total. The combination of chicken manure with compound fertilizer had no signficant effect on the soil reaction (pH) at the research area. The application of compound fertilizer showed a signitificant effect on the plant height at the age of 28 days after planting and the interaction had signitificant effect on plant height at the age of 35 and 42 days after planting. Meanwhile, the application chicken manure had no signitificant effect on potato plants height and also the application of chicken manure with compound fertilizer had no signitificant effect on potato production. The best combination result was between (0 ton ha-1 chicken manure and 0 ton ha-1 compound fertilizer) with product of 43,25 ton ha-1 it was suggested if wanted to use soil which had been used for other crop before, it was not necessary to add fertilizer.
