Abstract
In order to obtain wide-range information about the use of ozone-based plasma technology, this research has implement ozone exposure generated from a Dielectric Barrier Discharge (DBD) based ozone generator on used cooking oil. In this study, observations were made on changes in color, odor, and acidity of used cooking oil after being exposed to ozone-based plasma with time variations of 60, 120, 180, and 240 minutes. Observations were also made on the value of the breakdown voltage of used cooking oil after being exposed. The ozone used is generated from the DBD chamber using aluminum electrodes with a material thickness of 0.5 mm and a gap between the electrodes 1.0 mm, as a source of ozone production with the highest ozone concentration value. The results of this study indicate that exposure plasma to samples has had an effect on color, odor, and acidity. Treatment with 480.7 ppm on the sample also had an effect on the change in the strength of the oil to withstand stress from the stress applied to the spherical ball electrodes with an interval of 1.0 mm. the measurement results showed an increase in penetration strength of 37.2% after the sample was exposed.
