Abstract

This research aimed to evaluate the growth and yield of F4 resulted from crossing cayenne pepper with curly pepper. The research was conducted from June to November 2019 at the experimental station of the Agriculture Faculty, Sriwijaya University, Indralaya. The method used was Randomized Completely Block Design (RCBD) with 5 treatments and 3 replication. The treatments were P2.7, P2.23, and P3.23 (F4 from crossing of cayenne with curly chili), and K (cayenne plants without crosses), K2 (curly pepper without crosses). Each treatment consisted 3 plats, so there were 45 plants as a total. The results showed that the chilli progenies from the crosses had an advantage over some of the observed variables. P.27 was the most superior among the other progeny. The age of flowering and harvest age of progenies of crossing chili have been able to compete the cayenne control but have not been able to match the speed of flowering age and age of harvest of curly peppper controls.
