Abstract

Gout is a purine metabolism disorder that triggers an increase in uric acid levels in the blood which is characterized by recurrent pain caused by deposits of monosodium urate crystals that accumulate in the joints. Diet regulation is one of the most important things in gout treatment. One way to increase the knowledge of attitudes and public adherence to the Gout diet is by providing a learning package using booklet and video media. This study aims to determine the effect of learning package on knowledge of attitudes and dietary adherence of Gout sufferers. The method of this study is pre experiment with pre test post test design with one group design. The population in this study were all Gout sufferers in the working area of the Tanjung Api-api Public Health Center, and a total of 46 samples were taken using cluster sampling technique. The measuring instrument used was a questionnaire to determine the knowledge, attitudes and dietary adherence of people with gout. The data obtained were processed using the Wilcoxon test with a significant level of α = 0.05. The results showed that there was an effect of the learning package on knowledge of attitudes and dietary adherence of Gout sufferers, where based on the results of the Wilcoxon statistical test, the p value was 0.000, which means that the p value was less than α (0.05). The conclusion of this study after the used of learning package through booklets and videos was, the information can be applied in the future so that the knowledge, attitudes and compliance of respondents about the gout diet can be better than before.
