Abstract

PT. Muara Alam Sejahtera a company that operates in the coal field and located at lahat district. Accourding to increase production a new stockpile being built which is located on the Jepang road Waygandus, Tanjung Baru, South Sumatra, in order to increase of coal shipping to consumers. The construction of a stockpile certainly requires large funds and high risk, therefore an economic analysis was made in this case used the investment criteria method and sensitivity analysis to determine the economic feasibility of the stockpile development. The analysis is based on annual production target data for 10 years, capital costs, operational costs and coal prices at that time with an interest rate of 10%. The analysis only focus on funds in the stockpile. Data that has been collected then analyzed and put in cash flow table to analyze the investment. NPV is obtained at 611331 $, IRR is 15.59%, and the payback period is 4.2 years with BEP about 1 ton of every coal being producted. Overall, a decent investment is carried out by paying attention to coal prices and production costs. Both factors are very influential on the way the investment occurs if there are significant changes each year.
