Abstract

The older a person, the move vulnerable a person regarding his health. Evidence that optimal health in elderly patients depens not only on biomedical needs but also on the conditions surrounding them, such as greater attention to their social. Their economic, their cultural, and their psychological conditions of the patient. The purpose of this research is to know how to effective therapeutic communication for elderly especially in Panti Werdha. The method of this research used qualitative method. This research focused on a case study and researcher also used an observational technique as data collection techniques. This study was analyzed using the theories acording to Stewart L Tubbs and Sylvia Moss (2005) on (five) signs of effective communication is understanding, fun, influencing attitudes, good social relations, and actions. On the implementation of therapeutic communication that has been applied to the caregiver to occupant in accordance with the theory used in the study, namely in providing understanding/understanding through messages, changes in attitude that are shown by occupant and good social relations and good social relations and actions related to therapeutic communication.
