Abstract

STUDY OF RISK FACTORS FOR THE PHYSICAL ENVIRONMENT OF THE HOME WITH THE INCIDENCE OF PULMONARY TUBERCULOSIS IN THE WORK AREA OF THE ALANG-ALANG LEBAR HEALTH CENTER ABSTRACT In 2019 cases of pulmonary TB in the work area of the Alang-Alang Lebar health center increased by 50 cases. Many factors related to the incidence of pulmonary tuberculosis including physical condition of the house such us lighting, humidity, temperature, contact history, and ventilation. This study determines correlation between phsycal condition of houses with the event of pulmonary tuberculosis cases in work area of health center in Alang-Alang Lebar. This research is survey analytic study with case control studies. Sample in this study were 50 people with pulmonary TB (+) and 100 people with pulmonary TB (-) who did the treatment and lived in the working of the Alang-Alang Lebar health center. The collection of data used an observation method and the collected data were then analyzed by univariate and bivariate. The results of this study show that lighting (p= 0,005), humidity (p=0,011), temperature (p=0,002), contact history (p=0,010) are associated with pulmonary TB events while ventilation (p=0,271) is not related to pulmonary TB events. Concluded that tuberculosis transmission occured because the physical environment in the home doesn’t meet the conditions that allow tuberculosis bacteria to live and cause transmission.
