Abstract

This research is a descriptive study that aims to describe the construction of student evidence on the determinant matrix material. The construction of evidence in the determinant matrix material is constructing evidence using the definitions and rules of the determinant matrix. The research subjects were students of class XI IPA 2 of SMA Negeri 11 Palembang, which consisted of 42 people. The learning process takes place in accordance with the steps of direct learning. The data collection technique used is a written test consisting of 3 problem descriptions. Data were examined and analyzed by categorizing student answers based on four categories of evidence evaluation, namely as follows: K1 category (valid argument, proof and completion), K2 category (valid argument but not proof), K3 category (valid argument but not proof and not finished), K4 category (empirical / invalid and incomplete arguments). The results showed that the construction of student evidence on the determinant matrix material was included in the K3 category (valid arguments but not proof and not yet completed) with the following details: Students who were included in the K1 category (valid arguments, evidence and completion) were 30.95 percent, students included in the K2 category (valid arguments but not proof) of 25.40 percent, students included in the K3 category (valid arguments but not proof and not yet completed) amounted to 36.51 percent, students included in the K4 category (empirical / invalid and incomplete arguments) of 7.14 percent.
