Abstract

Background: Based on survey from National Basic Health Research in 2018 stated that 57,6% of Indonesian societies have problems with Dental and Oral Health because the knowledge of good dental and oral health among the societies is still lack, it should have found a way to increase the knowledge. Giving counselling and promotion about the importance of good dental health is one of the way that can be done to increase the level of dental and oral health knowledge. It is better to be done earlier since it is known that the dental problem will increase by the age. If children have entered their school period, their caries risk will increase as well. Animated video is the exact media as well as way to educate the children. Objective: To know the impact of animated video before and after it is given to the students of SD Negeri 10 toward their dental and oral health knowledge level. Methods: This research uses quasi experimental with pretest-posttest design and total sampling technique. The subject of this research is 40 students, 23 of them are fifth grade students and the rest is sixth grade students. The level of their knowledge toward dental and oral health is measured by giving questionnaires consist of 12 multiple choices. The analytical data used is Wilcoxon test. Results: The average of knowledge before and after video animated given has increased 20,735. Conclusion: The counselling by using animated video can increasethe knowledge of dental and oral to SD Negeri 10 students of fifth and sixth grade.
