Abstract

The purpose of this research is to, 1) Knowing what percentage of the poor population is when the sustainable development goals (SDGs) are completed in South Sumatra, 2) Identifying social economic factors that influence poverty in South Sumatra, and 3) Formulate strategies in an effort to accelerate poverty reduction in support of sustainable development goals (SDGs) targets in South Sumatra. This research was conducted in South Sumatra Province. The location of research was selected purposely. The research data collection was carried out in January 2020.The results of forecasting the percentage of poor people in South Sumatra Province in 1999 to 2030 decreased by 17.62 percent. It is estimated that in 2030 the percentage of poor people in South Sumatra will be 5.87 percent. It is expected that the percentage of poor people can decrease every year in accordance with one of the goals of sustainable development goals (SDGs), namely without poverty. Social economic factors that significantly affect poverty are unemployment and average length of schooling.The strategies used to reduce poverty levels in South Sumatra are sustainable poverty reduction, empowerment programs in the economic sector, strengthening the provincial government in controlling and evaluating the implementation of development planning, improving human resource skills in regional planning, providing entrepreneurship training, managing existing land in order to be more productive, open up jobs and provide assistance in the form of training, capital and facilities / infrastructure.
