Abstract

Rubber plants is one of the agricultural commodities that hold an important role for economy of society and country both internationally and specifically in Indonesia. Rubber production in Indonesia can decrease and causes the value of rubber exports also being decrease. Rubber plants was developed with the aims to increase production yield, which the optimal latex. Various factors that inhibit the development of rubber was caused by white root fungus by pathogenic of Rigidoporus microporus that a major disease in rubber plants. This research aimed to determine the diversity of antagonistic fungi that found in the soil around the roots (rhizosphere) of rubber nurseries, mature 0 rubber plants, mature 5 rubber plants. This research was carried out at the Nusantara Plantation Research Laboratory of the Indonesian Rubber Research Institute, Sembawa Village Banyuasin Regency, South Sumatra Province in September 2019 to April 2020. The research do by took soil samples from healthy rubber plants and then isolated in the laboratory to got pure culture of fungi then antagonism test was carried out by in vitro. The results showed that the antagonistic fungi that obtained was Trichoderma spp and Aspergillus sp. fungal isolates that inhibited R. microporus was rejuvenated and then treated with antagonistic fungi used a Completely Randomized Design (CRD) with 6 treatments and 3 replications applied to WRD sticks. Exploration results was obtained from 26 antagonistic fungal isolates and based on in vitro tested of 4 antagonistic fungal isolates that obtained with code samples II 1, II2, III 9, and III 14. The antagonistic fungus was further tested on WRD sticks. The results showed that antagonistic fungi be able to inhibit growth on sticks and caused abnormal growth in WRD misellium.
