Abstract

Abstract Lubuk Karet River is a river that surrounded by swamps with various kinds of plants and grasses. The Lubuk Karet River has the potentialforthedevelopmentofaquaculturewhichcanbethebusinesspartofLubukKaretvillagecommunity. Thisresearchwas aimedtoconductanassessmenteffortinordertomeasurethecapabilityofLubukKaretRiverforanyaquacultureactivities. The methodusedinthisstudyispurposivesamplingbyconductingwaterqualityassessmentthroughbiologicalandchemicalparameters tosupportthedevelopmentinthatregion. Theresultsofthistestcanbeabenchmarkoffishspeciesthatcanbecultivatedinthe LubukKaretRiver. TheresultsofthechemicalandbiologicalparametersshowedthatthelowestDOcontentatstation2was3.11 mg/LandthehighestBODcontentatstation1was4.7mg/L,thehighestatstation1was606mg/L,thehighestTSScontent50 mg/L, the highest nitrate content at station 1 was 6,54 mg/L, the highest phosphate content at station 2 was 0.098 mg/L, the highestCODcontentatstation2was5,61mg/L,Salinitywas0,thehighestcontentatstation2was9,71mg/LandthelowestpH valueatstation5was2.96. Fromtheseresults,itcanbeconcludedthatforfurtherutilizationforaquaticculture,sometreatments mustbeconducted. Keywords river,exploration,fishery,chemicalparameter,biologicalparameter
